Seeking answers?

There are many reasons people seek an assessment.

You may be wondering:

  • Could my child have ADHD?
  • Is autism contributing to some of the challenges we’re seeing?
  • Why is learning more difficult than expected?
  • Does my child need additional support at school?
  • Why am I struggling with attention, organisation, or emotional regulation?
  • What support would be most helpful moving forward?

Assessments can help provide clarity when questions remain unanswered.

They can also offer practical recommendations that support positive outcomes at home, school, work, and within the community.

How assessments help

An assessment is more than a diagnosis. It is an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of an individual’s strengths, challenges, learning profile, and support needs.

Depending on the assessment, outcomes may help:

  • Identify neurodevelopmental differences
  • Better understand learning and cognitive profiles
  • Support school accommodations and planning
  • Inform therapeutic recommendations
  • Guide NDIS applications and planning
  • Increase self-understanding and confidence
  • Clarify next steps for families and individuals

Frequently asked questions

How much does an assessment cost?

Assessment fees vary from $1,000 to $2,500, based on the type of assessment and the amount of appointment hours required. The fees cover a mix of face to face time, assessment, report writing and feedback. We can provide an indication of likely total cost upon booking, and then confirm any fee changes after your first session with the clinician if the plan needs adjusting.

How long does an assessment take?

Assessments generally involve 7–12 hours of clinician time from start to finish. Assessment questionnaires are required to be completed by patients and other people involved in their daily lives (parents, school teachers, or similar). Assessments are generally completed within 2–4 weeks of the first appointment if all documentation is returned within a reasonable timeframe.

Does an assessment take more than one session?

Yes, most assessments can involve 3 or more sessions, depending on the requirements. The first session (1 hour) will involve gathering the information required to inform the best approach, outline the suggested plan and answer any questions you might have. We will confirm your exact costs after this appointment. The second session (1.5–2 hours) is for assessment work—though this may be spread across two appointments. After this is completed, in the third session (1 hour) the clinician’s report and feedback will be discussed, and we will provide the appropriate next steps.
